A group set up by local author Alison Huntingford, to support and encourage authors, (and ‘would be’ authors), in the South Hams area is off to a flying start.
Their first meeting took place in the Imperial Inn, Ivybridge in early September and since then there have been several more, all of which have been well attended.
A group of about 30 authors have come together to debate, inspire and learn from each other.
One of the attendees said: This was “a lovely, informative and friendly evening.” Another commented: “The evening was a great pleasure and also very useful.”
An online forum and a Facebook group have also been set up for those unable to meet face to face.
The group will be running reading sessions at Ivybridge and Kingsbridge Libraries in the next couple of months, when three authors will read from and discuss their work. Entry is free. The forthcoming dates are:
2pm, November 12, Ivybridge - John Simes, Alison Huntingford, Joslin Day
2pm, November 26, Kingsbridge - Collette Ridley, Alison Huntingford, Caroline Born
2pm, December 10, Ivybridge - Biku Ghosh, Jenny Moore, Rob Holmes.
The group will also be at the Christmas fete at Ivybridge Leisure Centre on December 11 and they have plans for more exciting events in the near future.
Alison Huntingford said: “The group has a lot of combined skills and strengths and there is no limit to what we can achieve together.”
