DADS and young children are invited to come on a wild walk this weekend with the Ivybridge and South Brent Dads Group.

The group is organising the event on Saturday, April 30 from 10am to noon, meeting at The Den in South Brent for a walk down to Brent Island.

The dads group is part of the Dangerous Dads network, and is run in conjunction with South Hams Children’s Centres.

Leader Ian Blackwell said: ‘We will be going on a wild walk down to the Island in South Brent for a campfire, games and to make boats to float on the river. There will be a cup of campfire tea for the dads and a hot drink for the children.

’It will be a super event and we hope for good weather, but bring wellies, waterproofs and warm layers just in case. The event is open to all Dads and male carers in the area, and their young children.

’New people are always welcome so why not come along? It is a great opportunity to meet other dads and for the children to make new friends. No booking is required, just come along’.

Karen Pearce, South Hams Children’s Centre’s lead for the Ivybridge area, explained the new timetable of events was in full swing following the recent closure of the Seamoor centre.

She said: ’All groups are now running with the new group Chatterbox in St Johns church hall proving very popular.

’We have a brand new group, Here’s Looking at you Baby, running in the library for families with babies aged 0-12 months. Themes include baby massage, baby signing and treasure baskets.

’The timetables for all areas can be found on www.southhamschildrenscentres.org.uk
