As the proud director of The Day of Reckoning by Pam Valentine, may I answer Mrs Hegedus from Paignton’s cruel letter, Gazette, April 7, about the Salcombe Players’ performance of the play?
The Salcombe Players’ cast and crew put their hearts and souls into this play, not only for the week of the show, but for the months of rehearsals beforehand – I might add to the delight and enjoyment of our audiences, some of them from our local churches.
Where the violence and abuse in the play was, I have yet to see. I am very proud to be a member of the Salcombe Players and am committed to the lovely people of Salcombe.
Perhaps the lady in question could have left before the end of the play if her and her friend Jesus felt affronted by it. But she obviously chose to remain until the bitter end.
I suggest that our annual pantomime would be more to her liking.
