PRIMARY school pupils enjoyed a chance to dress down last week as part of the national Christmas Jumper Day.

Children and staff at Woodlands Park Primary School in Ivybridge wore Christmas jumpers to school on the last day of term, in exchange for a donation to Save the Children.

The charity organises the annual event in which people in schools and workplaces up and down the country wear festive clothing. So far this year’s event has raised more than half a million pounds nationally.

The day coincided with Woodlands Park’s end of term awards ceremony, celebrating the achievements of many of the pupils since summer.

A spokesman for the school said the assembly hall was ’a sea of Christmas jumpers’, and £270 was raised for Save the Children.
