A GROUP of Year 6 children from Erme Primary School went on a seven mile walk across Dartmoor in preparation for the Junior Ten Tors event in June 2017.

This gave the children the opportunity to experience a walk on the moor and learn some of the skills they will need for the event next year.

The children began walking from Cadover Bridge at 9am on Saturday, October 29 in cold but clear conditions. They ventured up tors, found hidden waterfalls, walked through numerous bogs and learnt the basics of navigation.

A spokesperson for the school said: ‘Hopefully they will have enjoyed the experience enough to try out for the team when training starts in March.’
