The Erme Primary School in Ivybridge have recently welcomed staff from Endsleigh Garden Centre to plant sunflower seeds with the children as a funraiser for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
Children from the Meadowsfoot and Flete classes were asked to make a donation of £1 to enter and the aim is for the children to grow the plant at home over the summer holiday. At the beginning of the Autumn term in September, Endsleigh Garden Centre will collect the final height measurements of the sunflowers, and the children who have grown the tallest plants will be awarded prizes.
The children were very excited to take part in the fundraising activity, and some flowers have already started to grow.
