Oh Mr Edgecombe, you are just digging a bigger hole for yourself, Gazette, April 22.

I had, of course, looked up the official meaning of the word Grockle, which in the Oxford Dictionary 10th edition states that grockle is an ‘often derogatory’ word used in Devon and Cornwall for holidaymakers.

So your ‘no offence intended’, ‘no offence taken’ and ‘wrong on every level’ etc is destroyed by you not understanding the meaning of the word.

Then of course you go on to be rude again at the end of your letter.

Of course people take the word grockle as offensive.

One thing you got right, though, is my lack of sense of humour. Correct, I don’t find you funny at all, just rude.
