IVYBRIDGE’S annual fireworks display at the town’s rugby club saw great numbers of people turning up to watch the spectacular event last Saturday.

The event is supported every year by Ivybridge Town Council, and there were also VIP guests from the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust in attendance.

The fireworks display is always the highlight of the night, and the crowds swelled from 6pm as people from across the town packed into the rugby club’s grounds.

The display was organised by the Two Tigers Firework Company, who were back in Ivybridge for the ninth year running. They provided yet another fabulous display, wowing the crowds.

There were the usual fairground rides and food stalls to enjoy, along with a very popular ‘sparkler zone,’ complete with water butts for the safe disposal of used sparklers.

The evening attracted a crowd of all ages, demonstrating that the annual celebration appeals to everybody in Ivybridge, and of course, there were plenty of children making the most of the celebrations.

Ivybridge Rugby Club chairman, Jim Burns said: ‘The fireworks event is always well attended and, if anything, there seemed to be even more people than last year.

‘The display itself is always impressive, and it was especially nice to hear that several people who were attending for the first time really enjoyed it.

‘As always, we extend a huge thank to all the club volunteers who worked so hard on Friday, both to get the ground ready and throughout the display, to guarantee that everyone stayed safe.

‘We’d also like to thank Ivybridge Town Council and everyone who came along and ensured it was such a success.’
