THE Erme Primary School’s Christmas Fair is coming up, promising fun for all the family, and all for a good cause.
Friends of the Erme Primary organise the event each year as part of their tireless fundraising to improve the school experience for pupils.
This year’s fair is taking place at the school in Station Road from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, December 10. Entry is free, and on offer will be games, a raffle with great prizes, stalls, crafts, a tombola, refreshments, performances from pupils, a chance to meet Father Christmas, and a go at guessing the weight of the cake, or the name of the teddy.
All money raised will go to the Victoria Park Play Development project, a scheme to resurface the park’s play area and put in new goals, hoops and fencing. The project will benefit not just pupils, who will use the area in the school day, but everyone in Ivybridge.
The Erme Primary School’s outdoor space is currently limited to a small, enclosed tarmac area between the Victorian building and Station Road, as well as the Victoria Park area shared with the public. The Friends believe the size and gradient of the current playground is unacceptable, and have made it their latest mission to upgrade the public facilities in the park.
The charity has an action packed fundraising schedule, raising more than £300 with the recent fashion show.
