Supporters of a local charity put on their glad rags to celebrate its 250th anniversary in style.

More than 130 supporters of Ivybridge’s Hannahs attended the 250th Anniversary Ball at its Seale-Hayne site last weekend.

The ball was held to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.

Guests were treated to a delicious dinner prepared by head chef Dino Pavledis and his team, and there was entertainment from magician Richard Griffin with his stunning Laser Light Show. Live music from the Loose Cannons ensured that the dance floor was packed all evening and there was also jazz music from the Big Buzzard Duo.

Keen gamblers enjoyed trying their hand at the casino, and auctioneer Dominic Walsh ran a very successful auction. Auction prizes were generously donated by GWR, Allianz, SW Comms, Ashburton Cookery School, Mullion Cove Hotel, Pebblebed Vineyards, Dartington Crystal and Exeter Racecourse.

Hannahs chief executive Bronwen Hewitt said: “A huge thank you to everyone who made the annual fundraising ball such a success. It was a spectacular event for our supporters.

"The food, the service, the wonderful welcome, the entertainment, the literature, the last minute volunteers, the film, the auction prizes, the staging and the detailed planning were incredible. This event was very important for us”.
