SPECIAL needs charity Hannahs is to benefit from fundraising carried out by a local business this year.
Brights Solicitors, which has offices in Ivybridge and Plymouth, has chosen Hannahs as its charity of the year for 2017.
Throughout the year staff at the firm will be organizing fundraising events to benefit Hannahs. Last year a group from Brights took on a cycling and running challenge across France and raised more than £8,000 for Brain Tumour Research.
Andy Sewell from the firm said: ’The partners and staff are extremely pleased to have chosen Dame Hannah Rogers School to be our nominated charity for 2017. It is very important that charities such as Hannahs get the support from local businesses that they deserve.
’It is very much part of the company’s ethos to be involved with the local community. The staff will be trying to raise as much money as possible through a busy schedule of events during the year.
’Some have already signed up to do the Plymouth Ocean City Half Marathon for the first time in April.’
Hannahs community engagement executive Rosey Oakes said: ’We are delighted that Brights Solicitors has chosen Hannahs at such an exciting time for us, as we celebrate our 250th anniversary as a charity in 2017.
’The team at Brights is keen to raise money for our Ivybridge centre, where we provide education, care and respite to children and young adults with a range of profound and multiple disabilities.
’We are excited to hear about their fundraising challenges and look forward to working with them throughout the year. Every penny they raise will help us to drastically improve the lives of the children in our care, so we are immensely grateful that they’ve chosen to support us.’
