AN IVYBRIDGE street is once again lighting up for Christmas as neighbours aim to raise money for charity with a dazzling electric winter wonderland.
Serrita Hill is the driving force behind the lights, which residents planned to turn on in Drovers Way on Saturday, December 3.
The Ivybridge lollipop lady and Stowford Primary school mealtime assistant has chosen Plymouth Alzheimer’s Society as the beneficiary of her fundraising, having supported St Luke’s and breast cancer charity Coppafeel in previous years.
Serrita said: ’My grandad has cancer at the moment, but he’s also got the early signs of dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society is there to help people like that. He doesn’t remember if I’ve phoned him, or if I’ve been to see him, it’s quite hard to deal with.
’I’ve had quite a few family members who’ve been affected. It can happen to anyone.’
Serrita said she has been forced to invest in some new bits of lighting for this year, after much of her equipment was damaged in bad weather last December. She now has some more illuminated inflatable decorations including a snowman and a polar bear, along with a new laser light on the back of the house and much more.
Serrita promises ’as much as we had last year, if not a bit more’.
To check out Serrita and her neighbours’ amazing lights, pay a visit to Drovers Way, and look out for the buckets to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society.
