Passengers faced delays and cancellations on their train journeys earlier today due to an incident on the tracks.

Officers were called to the line near Plympton at 7 am this morning (21 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to their death.
