A FUN-packed Sustainable Energy Fair is taking place this weekend organised by Ivybridge group PL:21.
The free event is taking place in The Watermark on Saturday, March 19 from 10am to 1pm, and will give adults the chance to learn about energy while youngsters can burn it off in the mini soft play area.
The fair will see a range of exhibitors and speakers discuss ways to reduce household energy bills, make greater use of renewable and locally generated power, and talk about why climate change still matters.
A programme of 10-minute talks includes a representative of Citizens Advice, as well as climate change campaigner Dr John Green and Plymouth Energy Community.
Exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions on topics from renewable energy technology to fuel bill advice, water efficiency and DIY energy efficiency improvements, as well as what to do if you are struggling to pay energy bills.
Local groups like Yealm Community Energy and PL:21 itself will be there to tell people what is going on in the area, including community solar schemes near Newton Ferrers and at Portworthy Dams near Lee Mill.
Children’s activities include face painting, crafts, and a smoothie bike to whizz up your own healthy snack, and all visitors will be entered into a raffle to win a £50 local food hamper.
Sophie Phillips of PL21 said: ’The energy fair will be a great opportunity for people to find out how to save energy and money in their homes and how to generate their own energy.
’We are pleased to be working with neighbouring groups such as Plymouth Energy Community who will be on hand to offer energy saving advice. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the free community event.’
