POLICE are warning of 'rogue callers' going door to door and offering services, then overcharging for them.
In Yealmpton last week a vulnerable elderly lady was asked to pay £50 after a man cut her tiny front lawn with a strimmer.
Police said the work on the eight-foot-square lawn took less than 10 minutes and was 'of a very poor standard'. The man was driving a blue vehicle with an Irish number plate and there was a woman and child in the car.
The police are asking the public to be aware of rogue callers, not to use the services of anyone who cold calls in this manner, and to let them know immediately if someone does. They suggest that any elderly or vulnerable neighbours or relatives should be made aware of the issue.
