Girls from two Rainbows units have had the pleasure of presenting the fruits of their fundraising labours to Erme Valley Riding for the Disabled.

1st and 5th Ivybridge Rainbows have been working hard this year to raise money for the branch of the charity, based at The Brook near Ugborough. The RDA provides life-changing opportunities for disabled people to ride and spend time with horses.

Rainbows is the youngest category of Girlguides, for ages five to seven. The Ivybridge youngsters had carried out various fundraising activities for the benefit of the RDA, collecting unwanted clothes for Bags2school, holding cake sales and keeping ’promise pots’, whereby they were rewarded for being ’kind and helpful’ at home, an important element of being a Rainbow.

The two groups raised £138.55, and a cheque was presented to Erme RDA on a recent visit to the centre.

The two Rainbows groups meet either on a Tuesday or Thursday during term time. 1st Ivybridge is looking for some extra adult help from September, either as a unit helper, or if someone is interested in doing the training, as a leader. For more information please contact [email protected] .
