HUNDREDS of people flocked to another successful fireworks display put on by Ivybridge Rugby Club.

The event, supported as always by Ivybridge Town Council, saw Two Tigers Firework Company return for the eighth year and put on another stunning display to delight the crowds.

Many commented that the pyrotechnics were even more impressive than those on Plymouth’s Hoe earlier in the week.

Devon Freewheelers, a team of 50 volunteer drivers that provide an out of hours delivery service to the NHS were also in attendance. They brought along a selection of the motorbikes they use to deliver essential supplies including blood, samples, medicines and donor breast milk to hospitals.

Fairground rides and food stalls added to the party atmosphere, and special guests from Hannahs enjoyed the show from the club’s balcony while the boundary of the first team pitch was packed several rows deep.

Club treasurer Michelle Cummings said: ‘The annual event is always well supported by the people in Ivybridge of all ages. The display is always fantastic, and it was especially nice to hear so many people compare our efforts so favourably to Plymouth’s display.

‘As always, we extend a huge thank you to all the club volunteers who worked so hard on Friday, both to get the ground ready and throughout the display to guarantee the event went off safely, Ivybridge Town Council, and everyone who came along and ensured it was such a success.’
