The written word was celebrated on World Book Day at Kingswear Primary School.
Celebrations kicked off with a reading breakfast - where parents and carers were invited into school to read with the children and enjoy a bacon sandwich.
Learning Support Assistant Angela Oliphant said: “One parent even attended dressed as James Bond - his favourite book character!”
Angela said after a morning of creative writing activities and quizzes the children were visited by two local authors, Claire Hall from ‘Devon with kids’ and Samantha Williams from ‘Little Star Studio’, who discussed the process of creating a book from concept to final product.
She added: “Encouraged by their creations the children were really motivated to go off and create something for themselves. The climax to the day was a book sale in the playground, where everyone was able to purchase books from the guest authors and raise money for school PTA funds.”
