THE South Hams Singers visited Hannahs in Ivybridge last week to present a cheque to the young adults in Hannahwood.

The community choir raised £1,045 for Hannahs at their concert before Christmas.

The concert took place at the Watermark in Ivybridge and the group of singers performed to a packed hall. They sang a huge variety of popular songs ranging from Vivaldi and Les Miserables to the Beach Boys and Queen.

Pete Cook from the South Hams Singers said: ‘We see the young people from Hannahs around Ivybridge and recognise the amazing work done by the charity.

‘We all live locally and wanted to support a local charity.

‘Having visited Hannahs and met the young people we are keen to continue supporting the charity.’

Hannahs’ community fundraiser, Kate Paterson, said: ‘A big thank you to the South Hams Singers for organising a fantastic concert in aid of Hannahs at the Ivybridge Watermark and raising an incredible £1,045!

‘The concert was held in November last year, and a group of our young adults from Ivybridge were invited to attend.

‘Our young adults really enjoyed the music and fun, and even joined in throwing beach balls around during a Beach Boys medley!’

As one of the UK’s oldest charities, Hannahs has been empowering children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities for nearly 250 years.

They are committed to challenging societal beliefs surrounding disabled people with the aim of making disability incidental.
