NEARLY £3,000 has been donated to Dartmoor Search and Rescue following a display of vintage and classic cars in Ivybridge.
Devon Vintage Car Club donated a total £2,750 to the emergency service after the diplay held at Erme Court, with the money shared between its north and south branches.
The event took place on Saturday, November 28, the day after the town’s Christmas Festival and lights switch-on, and was very well attended according to organisers.
Various cars were on display, including a 1930s Swift, a 1947 Standard Flying 8, 1950s Austins, a 1964 Morris Traveller, a Liege, a Gilbern, an MG Midget, and others.
Rob White of Dartmoor Search and Rescue said: ‘The sum donated will make a real difference to the work we are able to carry out. The South branch are going to use the donation to equip their new vehicle and the North branch are using it towards fitting out their new building.’
Devon Vintage Car Club is an enthusiastic fundraiser for local and national causes. Next year, its chosen charities are: CHICKS holidays for deprived children; The Emergency Bikers; and Crediton Playgroup for children with difficulties.
The club is looking forward to hopefully seeing the pennies roll in at its spring and autumn autojumbles, to be held at Hatherleigh in 2016, and at other events throughout next year.
