ORGANISERS have hailed a mini festival organised by an Ivybridge Primary school a ’tremendous success’.

Woodfest was held in aid of Ivybridge Memory Cafe and the Woodlands Park Primary School Friends Association on Saturday, June 18.

The event saw music filling the air around the school field as pupils and their peers from Manor School took to the outdoor stage, along with local groups including the UK Meltones and Blue Jewel Celidh band.

The audience relaxed on hay bales and picnic blankets and enjoyed the music.

Woodlands school pupils have been working with members of the Ivybridge Memory Café in fortnightly music workshops held in the school. The performance given by pupils and these adults was a highlight for event organiser and music teacher Debbie Down.

She said: ’I am incredibly proud of all of the performances at Woodfest, but especially the memory cafe performance as they have only been coming into school since Easter, and the difference between then and now is incredible.

’Seeing these adults and children performing alongside each other and valuing each other’s role is really special.’
