Wrangaton Golf Club

The veterans section of the club played the John Holloway Memorial Cup last Thursday, with 33 vets taking part.

Three players, David Bloomfield, Roger Battershill and Steve Woodcock, were tied on 38 points, but David won the competition with a better back nine.

In fourth place with 37 point was Barry Watts.

There were six twos on the day, scored by Colin Trevethick, Barry Watts, Norman Moon, Steve Webber, Roger Battershill and Keith Bailey.

The Wrangaton Open (Jack Finch Memorial) was played last Saturday, with 104 players taking part, which was great to see, and £500 raised on the day for the local Rowcroft Hospice.

It was great seeing two home players win the event.

Chris Harper and Tommy Ryder beat Mark Scrivener and Gary Clasby with a better back six holes after both teams came in with 43 points.

Chris and Tommy managed six gross birdies in row during their round.

In third were Chris William and John Axten with 41 points, fourth Steve Meara and Dave Clemens with 40, fifth M Henwood and R Bradford, also with 40, and sixth P Turner and M Le Seellur.

A visiting player had an impressive two on the eighth hole, which is a par five, so congratulations to James Mitchell.
