The veterans’ section played a blind pairs stableford event recently, an interesting format where your score card is drawn out with another players after playing a stableford round. The cards are added together and the highest total wins.
On the day 26 veterans took part and Peter Towers and Neil Toogood came out on top with a total of 76 points.
They were followed by Barry Golden and Tony Dart with 72 and Dave Rogers and Terry Tyler with 71.
In the men’s November stableford, two-handicapper Tommy Ryder carded his best-ever round with an impressive seven-under-par gross 45 points, including eight birdies. As a result, Tommy’s new handicap is 1.7.
The results were as follows: in division one Tommy unsurprisingly took victory with 45 points, three clear of second-placed Matt Handley with 42. Marc Sowden finished third with 40.
In division two Darren Hodge took a narrow win with 43 points, ahead of Mark Lee with 42 and Dave Nurrish with 41.
