Wrangaton Golf Club

Congratulations to all of those that represented the Veterans in Tuesday’s Emerton Court and Thursday against Dainton.

Dainton are quite a formidable foe as they haven’t been beaten at home or away this year.

However, Wrangaton’s intrepid squad put paid to their winning streak, returning a winning score of four and two.

This makes Wrangaton unbeaten, both home and away, in their last five matches and that’s not including the resounding success of the Emerton Court team in their match last Tuesday.

The vets also played medal last week in very difficult conditions; John Shepherd carded a gross 88, net 62, followed by Peter Swift in second with gross 89, net 73.

Last Sunday was the 21st year of the winter league. Dave Shepherd has run the league after setting it up 21 years ago.

Bob McCellan won the individual prize, Ian Black and Ross Ellard won the team event.

The overall matchplay result is pending between James Bond and Gary Clasby versus Pete Shepherd and Tim Dando.

The junior academy members played a nine-hole competition on Saturday, and it was great seeing the youngsters out playing on the course.
