After last week's impressive performance against Watcombe, Ivybridge fell quickly back down to earth with this comprehensive defeat against champions elect Buckland.

The visitors, spurred on by a large travellng contingent, knew a point would secure them the title and they duly set about their task, going 1-0 up following a free header from a corner.

Ivybridge struggled to find their stride, and it was no surprise that after half an hour Buckland added the second after a deflected effort from inside the box found its way into the bottom corner.

Ivybridge started the second half in more determined fashion as they sought a way back into the game as efforts from Simon McClements, Jon McClements and Shane Summers went narrowly wide.

With five minutes remaining Buckland scored again to ensure the title was theirs and upon the final whistle, the start of their celebrations.

After securing a seventh place finish in the Premier Division, manager Colin Barnard said: 'It's been a slightly disappointing season really, as I feel with the squad weve got we have underachieved, so next season we will looking to push on.'

The man-of-the-match award went to Colin Barnard.

Ivybridge held their presentation eveing on Friday, May 8, at the Plympton Conservative Club. Chris Smallridge was named players' player of the season, with the manager's player award going to Simon McClements.

The club wishes to thank sponsor Paul Hayman of Hayman Joinery and Wooduchoose for his continued support.
