East Allington 1,

Ivybridge Town reserves 3

The opening encounter of this game seemed as dreary as the weather, as both teams battled for possession, with neither side creating a meaningful effort on goal.

Mike Summers coming closest for the Ivies as he placed his header well wide from Aaron Week's corner.

East Allington were first on the scoresheet as centre half Dan Hurrell had the freedom of the Ivybridge penalty box following a corner and duly placed the ball into the net, despite the best efforts of Ivybridge Town defender Chris Graddon.

The Ivies started the second half brightly, and it wasn't long before they were level as a great cross from Simon McClements found its way to Paul Hayman. He found the time and space to stroke the ball home from inside the six-yard box.

Ivybridge then gained the advantage as a good passing move involving substitutes George Rayfield-North and Jon McClements resulted in the later finishing clinically inside the 'keeper's near post to give the Bridgers a well-deserved lead.

With five minutes remaining top scorer Chris Smallridge scored the goal of the game as a slick passing move down the right involving Lewis Foot, Jon McClements and George Rayfield-North resulted in Smallridge finding the far corner of the net with a blistering finish, to kill off any thoughts the home side had of making a comeback.

The man of the match award went to Simon McClements. Next week Ivybridge Town reserves are away to Watcombe for their penultimate game of the season.

This Saturday Allington travel to Waldon for a 2.30pm kick-off. Players meet 12.45pm and then end their season on May 12 away to Loddiswell, 6.45pm kick-off. East Allington also suffered a defeat at home to Dartmouth on Tuesday, going down 0-4 as injuries take their toll on the squad.

East Allington 0,

Watcombe 0

ALLINGTON picked up another good point in a midweek game with Watcombe but at a cost with Ben Robey breaking his collar bone and Andy Davis having damaged ankle ligaments.

It was an end-to-end, entertaining game, with both defences giving little away.

With Andy Davis beginning to call the shots in midfield, it was a crude challenge from two Watcombe players which ended his game just before the break, young Ben White coming on to replace him.

In the second half Allington began to get the better chances; first Ben Robey was taken down in the area by the 'keeper when he burst clear.

The only thing saving him from a red card was a covering defender getting back.

Still limping from the challenge, Robey was unable to take the resulting penalty so Dan Bowles stepped up, only for the 'keeper to guess the right way to make the save.

Next Robey set up James Ivatts, but he got under the ball to send his shot just over.

With time running out the visitors pressed for the extra points to keep their title chances alive and only a brilliant one-handed save from a point-blank header by 'keeper Matt Weeks denied them.
