A WOMAN was taken to hospital with head injuries three days before Christmas after rolling her car on the A38 between Wrangaton and South Brent.

Emergency services were called just before 2pm on Tuesday to reports of an accident on the dual carriageway in which a vehicle had rolled.

A fire engine and rapid intervention unit from Ivybridge rushed to the scene, along with appliances from Buckfastleigh and Ashburton and a ‘rescue tender’ vehicle from Middlemoor in Exeter.

On arrival, firemen found a car that had come to rest on its side among trees, having collided with the central reservation and rolled several times.

Rescuers quickly got to work, stabilising the vehicle and attended to the female driver with first aid equipment and oxygen. A thermal imaging camera was also used to scan the area, to ensure that no other passengers had been thrown from the car.

The driver was taken to Derriford hospital by ambulance, though her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
