The cause of the shed fire which resulted in man being taken to hospital suffering burns was accidental, it has been reported.

Three fire engines from Totnes and Paignton attended the blaze at Kingsbridge Hill, Totnes in the early hours of this morning after fire control received numerous calls to the incident.

On arrival at 3.13am crews found the single storey shed, measuring 20 metres by 6 metres, was well alight.

They also confirmed a man was suffering from eight per cent burns and called an ambulance to take him to hospital.

The fire destroyed 75 per cent of the shed and spread to 18 metres of hedgerow.

Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one compressed air foam jet to battle the flames.
