An organisation is requesting help from the public to fund a vital part of this year’s centenary First World War anniversary ceremony.

Ivybridge Royal British Legion is asking for the public’s help to ensure everyone can take part in the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

The RBL is hoping to hire a large video screen and a camera to allow everybody to both see and hear what is happening. To do this, the organisation has created a Crowdfunding page requesting help from the public.

To mark the occasion on Remembrance Sunday, the service will take place in the Watermark car park followed by a ‘March Past’ and ‘Wreath Laying’ ceremony at the war memorial.

A Royal British Legion spokesperson said: “As the parade and attendance have increased in recent years, we realised that the uniformed youth groups, those in wheelchairs and with hearing impairment, and other attendees have all found it more difficult to see, hear and participate.

“On this important anniversary we want to ensure that all that wish to participate can do so, so please help by contributing.

“Let us enjoy our wonderful parade in an open and comfortable setting, where we can watch, listen and see our veterans, servicemen, cadets, scouts, guides, and schoolchildren march with pride and lay wreaths at the memorial and say ‘thank you’ 100 years on.”
