David Marcer, of Hallsands, Kingsbridge, writes:

Last week Dr Wollaston asked me for my opinion of her decision to support the bombing of Syria. I gave her a reasoned response as to why I disagree with her. Now I find that by doing so I have, by implication, become labelled as a ‘terrorist sympathiser’.

Had such an accusation been made by a man of integrity, I would have found it deeply insulting.

If David Cameron had the wit to apply his label appropriately, his targets would include his ally Saudi Arabia, which funds Sunni extremists and practises medieval punishment; fellow member of Nato Turkey, which buys Isis oil, allows arms and fighters to cross its borders to Isis and attacks the Kurds, the most effective fighters against Isis; and the bankers, who allow Isis oil money to flow through their systems.

Stalin had a term for the people in the West who, although they must have known he was a murderous tyrant, nevertheless supported him. Now what was it?
