Enid Jefferies, of Sherford Down Road, Sherford, writes:
I absolutely agree with Ann Baverstock’s comments about paying for ‘clean, hygienic toilet facilities’, Gazette, August 28.
While I am sure we would all prefer not to pay, we are probably willing to do so rather than see the toilets on the quay closed and have to trek, cross-legged, up Fore Street.
However, as a volunteer at the Kingsbridge Information Centre, it is not only disappointing but embarrassing when visiting holidaymakers frequently come in to report that the toilets ‘have no toilet paper’, ‘the doors won’t lock’, ‘the toilets are blocked’, ‘they’re smelly’…
Our economy depends on happy holidaymakers, and surely the bottom line is clean loos.
Come on South Hams, get your act together.
