A driver was cut out of their car following a crash in Yealmpton on July 1.

The call came in just after 6pm and two crews were called in from Greenbank and found the car had gone into a hedge.

The crews closed the road while they freed the driver and they then handed the incident over to the police.

After receiving a 999 call the fire control operator will ask questions to try and understand what is happening.

They will send the nearest available appropriate vehicles.

Once at the scene, the incident commander will assess the situation and may request further vehicles, if needed.

They have many different vehicles that can respond to an incident.

These could include fire engines or specialist vehicles.
