CHILDREN at a local primary school enjoyed a fun and educational visit from an animal charity at the start of this term.
Pupils Maddie Turner and Beth Hooker take up the story:
On Tuesday, January 10, we were visited by Stacey Prosser from the Dogs Trust. First we went to the hall and she told us all about what they do as a charity.
Then she went to all of the classes and talked about being safe around dogs. She also told us how to treat them properly, and to show us she brought in a teddy Labrador.
Later on that day, it was break time and she came up to the top playground and Stacey was very impressed with our behaviour. After that, Stacey came to Year 6 to speak to us about how we should behave around dogs, and she taught us about how to treat them nicely.
Then she showed us some before and after pictures of dogs that had been mistreated.
At the end of each class’s session, she gave out some pens that have notes in them about how to be safe around dogs, and she also gave us leaflets and stickers, which we were very grateful for.
