LOCAL triathlon star Fin Saunders has enjoyed yet more success, winning his last race before flying to Chicago in September for the world championships.

Fin raced in the Palm Tree Sprint triathlon in Torbay last weekend, where he made up for a slow start in the swim leg by taking the lead in the cycling and running, crossing the line in first place.

In September Fin is off to the States to race for Great Britain in the Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships.

Fin is hoping for a podium finish in Chicago to top last year, where he placed ninth overall, and was the second Great Britain athlete to cross the line in Edmonton, Canada.

He has had a great race season so far, competing in the Cornwall Triathlon Series and achieving some top three spots and personal bests. Fin has also stepped up his training regime since last year, pushing himself for up to three hours a day, six days a week.

The Ivybridge athlete, personal trainer and bootcamp instructor is a great source of motivation and inspiration for his clients, many of whom have taken part in triathlons, and even gone on to national events with Fin’s training and support.

Fin has qualified to race in the GB age group team for Duathlon next year, and is currently on the look out for sponsorship from local companies. He will be forced to invest in a new bike next year, as he will no longer be able to race on his old machine thanks to a change in the rules.
