IVYBRIDGE’S sustainability group, PL:21 is holding a networking evening to enable groups and residents to share their plans and ideas for 2017.

PL:21 has developed good working relationships with lots of local organisations, but has said that many of them struggle to find volunteers to support their work.

The group is keen to see more partnerships and to raise awareness of the great initiatives taking place in and around the town.

PL:21 is hoping to be joined by groups and individuals interested in protecting wildlife and green spaces, energy, promoting local sport, cycling, walking and recycling.

The event will also be a chance for PL:21 to raise awareness of the next series of guided cycle rides, developed with national organisation, Sustrans.

The first of these takes place on Sunday, February 19, setting off from the Old School Community Centre in South Brent at 10am and travelling through Ivybridge to meet the residents at Dame Hannah Rogers School.

PL:21 is developing closer links with Hannahs to ensure the needs and wishes of their clients are heard and supported.

The second led bike ride will take place on Wednesday, February 22 from the Watermark Centre, Ivybridge at 6.30pm. This is a ‘dark skies’ guided bike ride along the Dartmoor Way to Cornwood, so good lights and warm clothes are needed.

The ride will stop for refreshments at the Cornwood Inn before returning the same way.

Katie Reville, PL:21 secretary said: ‘PL:21 had a busy 2016 with some big community events, but this year I think our focus will be on collaborating with other groups for the benefit of the Ivybridge community.

‘The networking evening will be a great chance for people to catch up with one another and to share ideas for initiatives to help make the area more sustainable.’

Everyone is welcome to attend the networking evening on Wednesday, February 15 from 7pm until 8.30pm at Chapel Place Community Hall in Ivybridge, PL21 9AE. There’s no need to book and light refreshments will be provided.
