IVYBRIDGE Town Council is asking members of the public to behave when attending its meetings – saying some have been ‘antagonistic’, ‘insulting’ and ‘downright rude’.

While the council does not refer to any specific meetings, a recent Planning and Infrastructure committee session, where controversial developments off Kennel Lane and Woodland Road were discussed, was particularly boisterous.

A spokesperson for the council said: ‘Recently some controversial planning applications have been considered by the Town Council and it appears that some members of the public seem to believe it is compulsory to be antagonistic and downright rude, entirely without foundation.

‘Councillors are unpaid volunteers, giving up their time to try and represent the community and work within a legal framework.
