2nd IVYBRIDGE Brownies are running a Pop-Up Café in an empty unit in Glanvilles Mill this weekend to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event is the brainchild of Brownie Kaytlin Peters, who wanted to support the charity as an immediate family member suffers from dementia.

During the summer term the four oldest members of the unit got to choose a charity and give presentations, with their fellows voting on which one to support.

Although Blue Cross for Pets came out on top, Kaytlin gave such a heartfelt presentation for the Alzheimer’s Society that the Brownies felt they wanted to support it too.

So the unit decided they would make and sell cakes and drinks, and wrote to Glanvilles Mill owner London and Cambridge Properties asking permission to use an empty shop, which they gave.

The event takes place at Unit 5, Glanvilles Mill, Ivybridge, from 10am to noon on Saturday, October 15.
