ORGANISERS are looking forward to the 27th edition of South Brent’s floodlit winter carnival, taking place on Saturday evening.
After last year’s atrocious weather villagers are hoping for drier conditions on Saturday, November 26, when floats from around the South West set off from Station Bridge at 6.15pm.
The event, one of the few night carnivals remaining in the area, is a final opportunity to see many of the year’s most popular and eye-catching floats, including South Brent’s own award winning ’Swinging 60’s’ creation.
Carnival club chairman Gerald Cleave said: ’These floats have a stunning impact, when you stand beside them you can feel the heat radiate from the thousands of light bulbs.’
Mr Cleave is asking villagers to help by please parking sensibly to avoid any congestion. He added: ’Trying to fit these 100ft floats into small spaces causes us problems, but people are very helpful and don’t usually park along the route, ensuring traffic flows freely and everyone enjoys spectacular views.’
