THE spectacular spring gardens of Lukesland near Ivybridge will be open to the public this weekend in aid of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth.

The 24-acre garden at Harford, just north of Ivybridge will be open on Sunday, April 17 from 11am to 5pm.

On display will be spring colour thanks to the vast collection of rare camellias, rhododendrons, magnolias, azaleas and wild flowers in the privately-owned home’s garden.

The normal entry fee to the gardens applies, but proceeds are going to the Plymouth hospice that provides vital care to terminally ill patients. Children will be admitted free, and dogs are welcome on a lead.

Local craftsman John Montgomery will be demonstrating wood turning, and visitors will be able to browse plant and produce stalls. The tea room will also be open all day serving homemade soup and cakes.

The gardens at Lukesland will be open each Wednesday, Sunday and bank holiday until June 12, from 11am to 5pm.
