Lynda Carole, of Totnes Road, South Brent, writes:

I was horrified to read that the NHS is under corporate attack.

The NHS is there for our welfare, not for the benefit of big American businesses. Why should public health be turned into private wealth?

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is being secretly worked on right now. David Cameron wants the deal to be agreed as soon as possible – it may be completed before Barack Obama leaves office. Is this one of the purposes of the US president’s visit to the UK?

As part of a TTIP deal, the Investor State Dispute Settlement would allow those business owners to sue our government if it subsequently passed a regulation to protect us if it was perceived as affecting its profit. Would this take place in secret courts?

If the TTIP is good for us, why is everything so secretive?

The Green Party has said the TTIP is a corporate power grab that threatens our public services and democracy. Even the EU has said the TTIP will probably cause unemployment, as many jobs would move to the US, where labour standards and trade union rights are lower.

Unison is concerned.

More than 3,030,770 people are so concerned that they have signed a 38 Degrees petition.

I am deeply concerned.

We must do all we can to save our NHS from wholesale privatisation and to save our democracy.
