It might not feel much like Summer but South Hams cricketers are getting ready for the start of the season

Young Ivybridge cricketers took part in the English Cricket Board’s Cricket Force weekend, which sees club members turning out to prepare their local grounds for the new season.

The youngsters grabbed their paintbrushes and made light work of the fencing around the ground, despite the damp weather.

Colts coordinator Stafford Williams said: “We have been training indoors over the winter and are looking forward to training starting at Filham Park on Friday evenings. 

“We have a bit more work to do to the ground as the rain has prevented us from getting onto the grass.  Our colts had a great season last year reaching the last 16 of the national cup and we introduced the hugely successful All Stars programme for 5-8 year olds starting their cricket careers.”
