Ivybridge Colts went in to this game needing to win to secure their place in the South Hams and Plymouth District League final.

Having played Plymstock in a very close match two nights before, Ivybridge knew this would be a tough game.

Plymstock won the toss and put Ivybridge in to bat again first. Plymstock got off to a great start, taking three wickets in the first five overs, with Ed Hale taking two wickets in one over and finishing with 2-13.

At the midway point Ivybridge were only on 212 and were struggling to score runs. Will Stevenson, coming in as part of the third pairing, batted superbly, top-scoring for Ivybridge with 16 runs, which included three boundaries.

When the final pair came in Ivybridge were on 245.

Zach Dunn and Luca Turner batted really together, rotating the strike effectively. They added 16 runs off the bat, with Dunn scoring 11, and helped Ivybridge to finish on a respectable 272.

Needing 273 to win, thunder and lightning overhead meant that the Plymstock innings was delayed.

When play was eventually resumed, Ivybridge got off to a great start, with the opening bowlers Ollie Garland and Will Stevenson taking a wicket each in the first four overs.

Garland bowled superbly, finishing with 1-0 from three overs.

Plymstock found it hard to score runs and then lost more wickets when Zach Dunn, coming on to bowl in the 11th over, had a good spell, taking two wickets from his three overs and finishing with 2-9.

Plymstock needed 51 runs from their final partnership and although Alistair Bond batted well, scoring nine runs, good bowling from all the Ivybridge bowlers saw Plymstock finish on 234.

As a result, Ivybridge won by 38 runs, securing their place in the cup final in September.
