The Under 11s B cup heated up in the South Hams and Plymouth District League as a win for Yealmpton mean that Ivybridge must win their last remaining game to book their own place in the final.

Yealmpton proved far too strong for Plympton, winning by 119 runs.

Yelverton also ran out winners over Cornwood by 33 runs. In a low-scoring game, Cornwood finished on 244 runs, with both teams fighting for the win. However, it would be a good batting display by Yelverton which would prove to be the difference, Surya Suresh (10) and Joshua Bache (11) top scoring as the final total finshing on 277 runs. The pick of the bowlers was Dylan Horsey with 2 for 9.

In the A Division under 11s Ivybridge knocked out Whitchurch and in the process sent themselves top of the cup pool.

Ivybridge went in to bat first after winning the toss. Opening batsman Sam Kidd got off to a good start with the bat.

Although Whitchurch took a couple of early wickets, Sam batted well to score 19 runs before being bowled. Arthur Johnson added 11 runs with the bat before he was also bowled. Despite seven wickets falling, the last pair batted steadily and Ivybridge finished on 111-7.

Ivybridge got off to a great start with the ball when Kidd bowled a wicket maiden in the first over and there was also a run out, resulting in Whitchurch being 0-2 after the first over.

Tyler Hunt added 11 runs before he was caught and bowled off Drew Bowden. Jacob Kopparambil, bowling leg spin, bowled very well, taking a double wicket maiden in his first over and finished with 2-10.

In addition to his score of 19, Sam Kidd also bowled well and finished with 2-10. Zach Dunn did well behind the stumps and was given fielder of the match for Ivybridge.

Some good fielding from the home side resulted in three run outs and Whitchurch being all out for 58 in the 17th over to give Ivybridge victory by 53 runs.

On the hottest day of the year, Buckland welcomed Cornwood Oaks for the return leg of the cup games. With the toss won, Buckland elected that Cornwood would bat first on the hard, sun-baked wicket.

Cornwood initially struggled to find the runs with two early wickets falling in the first threeovers until Adam Sams steadied the boat, enduring 10 overs until retiring not out on a remarkable 28 runs.

Fours were plentiful with eight in total for the Cornwood side, but solid bowling slowed the Cornwood total to 78 runs for their 20 overs.

With Buckland at the crease, the run chase began in earnest. Despite some excellent fielding by Tom Attwood and Robert Young, Cornwood were unable to halt Buckland, who won with the loss of just two wickets in the 14th over.

On a warm and pleasant evening Tavistock hosted Cornwood at the Ring in this U13s fixture.

With three of the top four wicket takers in the league Cornwood skipper Sam Griffiths had no hesitation in asking Tavistock to bat first on winning the toss.

His decision seemed to be vindicated with an early breakthrough when the score was on five, Billy Fletcher bowled by Sam Griffiths.

Thereafter, however, it was all Tavistock as they finished on 203-2. The pick of the Cornwood bowlers was Ruben Neve (2-0-13-1).

In reply Cornwood started well and were up with the run rate until an opening stand of 39 between Jake May and Ben Beaumont was broken when Beaumont was bowled for a well-made 27.

Heath Marker (2) quickly followed when he was bowled by Isaac Staig before Sam Griffiths joined May and together they set about rebuilding the innings with a stand of 58 before they both fell with the score on 100.

First, Griffiths (14) was bowled by Jack Steel and then May fell to a fine catch by 'keeper Louis Peake, edging James White behind with a top score of 34.

With two further wickets Jack Steel (3-0-22-3) took the bowling honours for Tavistock but a collective team effort saw Jack Bellamy (2-0-7-0), Burns (3-1-6-1), Staig (2-0-9-1) and White (2-1-6-1) helped Tavistock to limit Cornwood's reply and they finished on 120-6, Tavistock winning by 83 runs.

Plymstock hosted Yealmpton and winning the toss put the visitors in to bat. William Snawden and Tobin Barker got off to a steady start with the latter looking as fluent as ever before feathering an edge behind off the excellent Toby Chapman (1 for 14 off 4).

Snawden continued and top scored with 16. Zack Hannon and Sam Joce both bowled impressively, taking three and two wickets respectively, with Tom Mitch ruffling the Yealmpton tail with a quick couple of wickets. However, there was a steady flow of extras which helped Yealmpton to 94 at the turn.

Joce and Bond opened up and saw off the hostile Yealmpton opening partnership of Callum Green and Sam Cumberland.

However, scoring was not easy and some impressive bowling from George Moss, George Telford and Harry Davies, with only 14 runs coming off their combined six overs, meant Yealmpton won by 17 runs.
