South Hams rugby star Henry Slade is set to win his third England cap this weekend after being named on the bench to face Fiji in the second Old Mutual Wealth series match this weekend.

Slade, who played for Ivybridge Rugby Club as a teenager, will add to caps won against France and Uruguay last year if he makes it on to the field in what is sure to be an entertaining game.

He remembers watching Jonny Wilkinson slot that drop goal to win the 2003 Rugby World Cup from the clubhouse at Ivybridge’s Cross-in-Hand ground.

He will line up against clubmate Niko Matawalu and former Chiefs players Nemani Nadolo and Josh Matavesi for what would be his first appearance under England boss Eddie Jones.

The talented and versatile back, who can play fly-half, inside centre or outside centre, was an instrumental part of the England U20s team which won the Junior World Championship for the first time in 2013.
