IVYBRIDGE Rainbows have celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a royal evening.
Girls from the town’s three Rainbows units – the youngest group in Girlguiding -
were divided into teams, each bearing the name of a Queen, for different activities.
As well as making a giant birthday card to send to her majesty, the girls also made their own crowns and flags, decorated crown shaped biscuits and played ‘pin the crown on the Queen’.
At the end of the session each Rainbow was presented with a special commemorative badge.
Leader Sue Fricker said: ‘As well as being our queen, she is also the patron of Girlguiding so it was very important for us to celebrate this important event. The girls really enjoyed all the activities and were very creative with their crowns!’
Rainbows are holding a taster session in Ivybridge Library on Thursday, June 2 from 10.45 to 11.45am, to showcase what they do at unit meetings.
Girls will get the chance to take part in various craft activities and find out more about Rainbows, and organisers hope as many parents, carers and youngsters as possible can come along and join the fun.
Please note parents and carers will need to stay with the girls while they join in the taster session. For more information email [email protected].
