The annual Ivybridge 10k saw hundreds of runners from across the Westcountry charging through the lanes around the town.

The event was organised by the Erme Valley Harriers, who are based at Ivybridge Rugby Club.

The 10k has been running since the late 1990s over various courses, the current route having been settled on in 2006.

Runners set off from Ivybridge Railway Station heading towards Bittaford, through back lanes to Wrangaton and then back on Exeter Road.

The Ivybridge 10k is one of the biggest non-commercial races of its distance in the south west. Both the Plymouth 10k and the Bristol 10k are run by companies.

Race director Ian Crossley said: “It’s a time-consuming event, with nearly 90 volunteers working out on the course, marshalling, running car parks, drink stations, collecting numbers.

“I’m very proud of the time and their efforts. And I’m very proud of the event and all the people who support it.

“Thanks to all our event sponsors: Spinnaker, Airey & Coles, OTM, Tesco Extra, McCaulay’s, Frank Elford Sports and ATS. We look forward to next year."

The Erme Valley Harriers are now preparing for their next event - the Erme Valley Relays, which will take take place at Ivybridge Rugby Club on Friday, July 7.
