AN appeal has been launched to build a new playground for children with disabilities and additional needs in Ivybridge.

The Fun Together Appeal is working towards building the playground at the Donkey Assisted Ther-apy Centre, Ivybridge.

The centre, operated by the Donkey Sanc-tuary, and provides 6,000 riding sessions each year for children with special needs.

The appeal has adopted its own pirate character, Captain Blackjelly, and an event was held to find his buried treasure. On the captain's treasure map was a family ticket to Crealy Adventure Park.

More than 100 people took part, but ten year old Lucy from Plymouth correctly identified the spot where the treasure was buried.

She received her prize from Ray Bedson, the Fun Together Appeal Committee's chairman.

Brother James, little sister Rebecca and mum were all on hand to help Lucy celebrate winning her family fun day out.
