A LOCAL caring charity is to benefit from the heroics of two of its trustees as they take on a punishing physical challenge.

Natalie Cook, a trustee of South Brent & District Caring is set to run non stop for 62 miles - 100 kilometres - in aid of the organisation.

Natalie is taking part in the South Coast Challenge this bank holiday weekend, which challenges entrants to run, jog or walk from Eastbourne to Arundel. Natalie has run two marathons before on behalf of the charity, but this will be the longest route she has yet attempted.

Fellow trustee John Gower will join Natalie for the first 23km, before getting behind the wheel of his camper van to become her support team.

South Brent & District Caring receives no statutory funding, and has to find at least £25,000 a year to continue supporting elderly, isolated local people to live independently.

Natalie recently spent a sunny Saturday morning manning a stall in the centre of South Brent with the charity’s coordinator Sue Burgess. Sue noted that she went on to do a 20 mile practice run that afternoon, and has occasionally walked to work, from South Brent to Buckfastleigh, in recent months.
