Fisherman’s Cup
Ivybridge U16s 50,
Exe Rugby 0
Ivybridge players and supporters were met by brilliant blue skies, searing sunshine and a turquoise sea for their Fisherman’s Cup second-round game at Exmouth on Sunday.
Playing from west to east, Ivybridge looked well drilled, organised and energetic from the start and had run in their first of try before the gaggle of enthusiastic supporters had time to catch their breath.
The frenetic pace was unrelenting, with the Ivybridge forwards repeatedly winning clean ball at both the line-out and scrum. The backs, through strong and straight running, then quickly capitalised on this success with a tally of 45 points to nil at half time.
The story of the second half was much the same, and with Ivybridge enjoying the lion’s share of possession and easily containing Exe in the own half.
The referee called time still with 15 minutes of the half to play as Ivybridge ran in their eighth and final try to secure a well-deserved 50-0 win.
