A man has been caught after a police chase in Ivybridge. It followed the arrest of another man following a large theft near Dartmouth.

Sergeant Ryan Canning described the incident on the Ivybridge and Rural Police Facebook page:

“Some of you would have seen the Police Helicopter over Ivybridge a short while ago. Following a report of a significant theft in the Dartmouth area, (12.20pm on 09-02-22) a very diligent Kingsbridge colleague stopped a vehicle near to Totnes Cross. The driver was taken into custody, the passenger fled the scene. Whilst conducting searches in the area, we learnt that the outstanding male had taken a Taxi towards Ivybridge. Several South Hams officers made their way to Ivybridge, located the taxi and were soon involved in a foot chase, tracked by the helicopter. Im happy to report, the outstanding male has now been detained on suspicion of theft.”
